A short history
Between the two wars, the hotel welcomed the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy, Francesco Saverio Nitti. Built in 1898, this was the hotel for the aristocracy who flocked from all over Europe to enjoy the grand gala evenings on the terrace high above the sea, with the Gulf of Naples stretched out before them. It was requisitioned during the war and fixed up again after the 1980 earthquake. The buildings have lost none of their nineteenth-century charms. The interiors continue to maintain the elegance of the past with original pieces of antique inlay wood furniture from Sorrento.
